Nicola A Gillies
I am a mixed-methods health researcher and NZ Registered Dietitian. My research focuses on improving human health and wellbeing through food, with my interests falling broadly into two key areas;
Health promotion / mental wellbeing – I am interested in the intersect between diet and mental wellbeing for young people. I use participatory research methods to understand what is important to young people, and co-create solutions to their challenges. I am interested in food relationships and digital spaces being both a challenge and opportunity in this research area.
Clinical dietetics / gastroenterology – I contribute to advancing dietetic research and practice in the gastroenterology field, with a focus on disorders of gut-brain interaction (e.g., irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia) and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
