Mei-Hsien Lee
Prof. Lee’s research focuses on the isolation, characterization, and biological evaluation of bioactive compounds from traditional Chinese medicines and Taiwanese endemic plants, with particular interests in their potential health benefits. Her research uses activity-guided approaches and *in vitro* models to identify active constituents and investigate their roles in areas including osteoporosis, degenerative diseases, and skin health.
Her work also extends to the development and quality control of natural health products, including raw material standardization, chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC), and technology development. Several bone health-related patents from her research have been successfully transferred to industry for product development. In collaboration with traditional Chinese medicine physicians, her team is also involved in clinical studies of traditional Chinese medicines. Her research aims to connect the identification of bioactive compounds with their potential applications in human health through basic, translational, and clinical research.
